Leading wholesaler digitizes warehouse processes at its headquarters in Mondsee, improving warehouse space usage by 15 percent.

Hamburg, Germany - 04 September 2024.
Körber Supply Chain Software and UFP Austria have announced the successful completion of comprehensive warehouse optimization measures. The logistics specialist and wholesaler of well-known manufacturers (e.g. HP, Canon, Ecoflow, Skullcandy) has been relying on digitalized warehouse processes at its Mondsee site since the end of 2023. The Körber Warehouse Management System (WMS) went live in record time.
UFP is a leading wholesale company in the heart of Europe with a long history. Their Austrian warehouse location has over 3,200 square meters of warehouse space and employs almost 70 people. To optimize warehouse capacities, the previously manual warehouse processes were completely digitalized within three months. The use of the K.Motion WMS gives the retailer a high level of stock reliability when processing B2B and B2C business. The company has more than 6,000 items in stock in the logistics center, which increasingly have to be kept in stock via automated orders from smart devices. Over 13,000 orders leave the warehouse every month, including printer hardware, accessories and household electronics.
"The use of digital technologies in the warehouse is clearly reaching small and medium sized businesses, said Dirk Teschner, Senior Vice President and Managing Director Germany at Körber Supply Chain Software. The potential for optimization is particularly high in this environment, as the step towards digitally supported processes can have an immediate positive effect on customer satisfaction. Transparent inventory management improves service quality – and has a long-term impact on the success of many retailers."
Following the introduction of Körber’s software solution, UFP was able to optimize warehouse space utilization by an average of 15 percent, while space utilization in the small parts warehouse was even increased by around 40 percent. In addition, the WMS has established a consistently high level of stock transparency, providing employees with real-time stock information via Mobile Data Terminals (MDT).
“As a leading wholesale retailer and logistics specialist, we consider the warehouse to be the heart of our company. This made the decision to digitalize our warehouse logistics processes and make them fit for the future all the more important. Transparent workflows have made it possible to deploy our employees more flexibly in the various areas of the warehouse. The collaboration with Körber added benefits on many fronts.”
